The Nationals finally made their third base addition over the weekend, signing Paul DeJong to a one-year, $1M contract with an additional $600k in incentives.

The timing makes sense. Josiah Gray was moved to the 60-day injured list to make room for DeJong, something that wasn’t allowed until Spring Training began. With the 40-man roster previously full, moving Gray to the IL allowed the club to make the signing without exposing a player to waivers.
